Then a dead DOS program could be killed, not JM> the system reset by a forgetful user. This worries me - that just because Windows does something different, now it is a standard for all OSs to follow. On my particular machine such a feature will lead to grief as just about the only time I hit CAD is when my video card/driver has locked up... in which case nothing on screen will do a bit of good since I will never be able to see it. I already sometimes have to use CAD-CAD to get buffers flushed out, how many times would I have to hit it after such a modification. When I want a CAD shutdown it is not negotiable, as the only reason I didn't use reset or CANL-CANL is that I don't want to autocheck several gig. CTL-ESC already does the same function that this wonderous CAD does for Windows but doesn't do it by redefining a basic keyboard function (though something fancier than 'This program is not responding...' would do a world of good towards improving the visual appeal of the OS). Fixing the SIQ will help because then CTL-ESC can do more than just state a program is not responding, it can actually let you actively go and destroy the offender. If such a feature does come to be on OS/2 then I hope one of the first things I see in my inbound is a replacement for it. --- Maximus/2 3.00* Origin: PowerHouse Point, Burnaby, BC - 604-431-4569/9365 - (1:153/894) SEEN-BY: 270/101 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 807 808 809 934 955 712/407 SEEN-BY: 712/515 517 628 704 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 153/894 7070 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 809 934 |
