subject: Fidonet Archive Update

Hello Bob!

19 Apr 07 17:07, you wrote to Ed Hulett:

EH>> Ross just collects all your messages throughout FIDO and

BK> You have no idea, so just shut up for once.

But he does have the idea, idiot, why dont you shut up for once?

I explained this in great detail to Wayne, he didnt comprehend it, maybe you will?

On my system, my message bases are in a format known as Squish, all you
need to know is its a message base type, just like JAM, HUDSON, FIDO, OPUS
are message base types, not to be confused with QWK, Bluewave or Silver
Express, which are offline reader formats. The 2 most popular formats in
Fido are SQUISH and JAM.

There is a program I use called FTRACK which can read from a SQUISH message
area and append to another area. I setup FTRACK to move off, anything I
have set to move off, if it has aged 14 days.

I will have ftrack scan each message nightly in a given area:

if the message is authored by a certain person

and

if that message is 14 days old or older

then

move message to SQUISH message base in special folder.

There is a program I use called SQ2HTM, I take it you possess the
intelligence to figure the acronym?

Nightly, at 1 am, when I am asleep, a batch file will do this:

I store the file sizes of the special SQUISH message areas pertinent to the
people, whose messages are in this archive, in a variable.

Ex:

set klahnb4=%{at}filesize[c:\fidonet\golded\klahn\klahn.sqd]

I then run FTRACK against everyone in all the areas I scan in..

Ex:

cd \fidonet\ftrack

ftrack

If anyones special squish area got added to, the batch file will know, as I
run a filesize comparison again, this time checking it against the
previously stored variable taken before FTRACK was run.. If there is a
difference, I store a yes or no inside another variable to be used later in
the batch file.

Each person has their own section of the batch file, so I step through
based on whether or not the yes/no variable is well a yes or a no..

So if a no, I skip to the next person and check, and continue til the end
or if a yes is encountered, if a yes, then I change directory to that
persons special squish area, run SQ2HTM, which reads the SQUISH message
base file and it creates all the necessary HTM files, the files are then
converted to lower case, moved to a tmp dir, the squish message base files
are zipped and the zip file is placed into the same tmp directory. The
batch file then CD's to the tmp directory where it then zips up all the htm
files into a archive. Then it launches a scripted FTP client which logs
onto the site, deletes your old htm files, uploads the new ones along with
the 2 ZIP files, if successful, the scriptftp script will then delete the
contents of the tmp dir. The batch file moves onto the next person and does
the variable checking until its done, then the end.

Ex:

:klahn
if %{at}filesize[c:\fidonet\golded\klahn\klahn.sqd] gt %klahnb4 goto klahndo
set klahnud=No
goto lofaso

:klahndo
cd \fidonet\golded\klahn
sq2htm klahn klahn
lcname *.htm
move *.htm tmp
zip klahnsquish.zip klahn.sq?
move klahnsquish.zip tmp
cd tmp
zip klahnhtm.zip *.htm
cd \fidonet\golded\event
scriptftp_console klahn.ftp
set klahnud=Yes
goto lofaso

I then create the text file which makes up the update message, here is the commands:

echo Fidonet Archive Update Status For %_date>updated.txt
echo ==========================================>>updated.txt
echo ˜>>updated.txt
echo Archivee Updated?>>updated.txt
echo ========                ========>>updated.txt
echo ˜>>updated.txt
echo Dan Ceppa %ceppaud>>updated.txt
echo Wayne Chirnside %wayneud>>updated.txt
echo Ward Dossche %dosschud>>updated.txt
echo Bj"rn Felten %feltenud>>updated.txt
echo Bob Klahn %klahnud>>updated.txt
echo Lee Lofaso %lofasoud>>updated.txt
echo Herman Neut %neutud>>updated.txt
echo Bob Sakowski %sakowsud>>updated.txt
echo Otto Ross Sauer %sauerud>>updated.txt
echo Michiel Van Der Vlist %vlistud>>updated.txt
echo ˜>>updated.txt
echo Archive Available At: >updated.txt" target="new">http://www.matzdobre.us>>updated.txt
echo ˜>>updated.txt
echo Archives are viewable as WEB Pages, segragated by Message
Topic.>>updated.txt
echo ˜>>updated.txt
echo Archives can also be downloaded inside ZIP file archives either
in>>updated.txt
echo the same HTM files the online archives are in or the SQUISH message
base>>updated.txt
echo files they are derived from.>>updated.txt
echo ˜>>updated.txt
echo Enjoy!>>updated.txt

Then I post it using my fido tossers built in post from text util.
