Ok I'm still confused but here is something else to try, on your machine,
change the name to something unique, change the domain to something unique
(without booting between these changes) then reboot. Once the machine comes
up, change the domain to ibmpeers without first creating an account in that
domain for this machines new unique name, when you do this it should ask
for the domain admin account and password, put them in and see if it now
joins the domain, if it does don't rename the machine again.
