G'day Bill,
On 06-01-80 09:49, Bill Grimsley said to Jeff Green

BG> Fucking hell, there's not much left then, is there?
No :-(
BG> Yet it transfers any size mail packet OK!
Seems to (see below though). I just sent another one that was over the 8192
bytes mark, so I don't see how it could be the modems not talking
correctly.
I even tried sticking the file in a message packet once :-)
As the message packet is just a zip file I added it to the message file in
the normal manner eg 'zip -u 00000000.mo0 kwq12i.exe'. It added in without
a hitch. The transfer died with the usual message.
BG> AFA your modem is concerned, it's just another file, so
BG> the problem is with Bink IMO. What version again, 2.50
BG> wasn't it?
2.56 (with 'error' or 'transfer cancelled') and 2.50 (with 'transfer
cancelled'). The transfer cancelled on the 2.56 version occured the other
day.
BG> Have you tried either 2.50 EE or 2.59 yet? It can't be
BG> your file system either, as I run all HPFS here without any
BG> problems at all.
Yeah, I'll try those versions soon.
BG> Tell me, when you do an Alt-S, does a filename like 0C450S23.FLO
BG> (ignore the prefix, it's just an algorithm-derived filename of
BG> some sort, and yours will be totally different) appear in your
BG> \outbound directory? Its contents are similar to this...
BG> #\point\outbound\00000000.su1
BG> ;SEND generated by node 3:640/305.9{at}fidonet using BinkleyTerm-OS/2 Ver. 2.5
BG> \POINT\TEST.ZIP
Alomst...the third line on mine always (I think) has a drive designation in
it ie E:\point\test.zip. So does the message packet though. I'll try taking
them out of the paths in the config file and see what that does. I don't
hold out much hope, but at the moment I'll try nearly anything.
BG> If there was no mail packet to be sent at the same time, I think
BG> the first line would not appear.
Yeah, that's right.
JG>> I give up.
BG> I wouldn't. It's stuff like this which really gets the juices
BG> flowing. Don't you love a challenge? |-)
About two hours after I said that, I tried again :-) I'd thought of
something else to try. It brought on the 'transfer cancelled' message
instead of the 'error' message using 2.56. I don't know if thats good or
bad though :-)
Regards...Jeff (jeff{at}grntrs.dialix.oz.au)
