I'm trying to kill the thread external from the thread. If it were internal
that would be easier to implement.

This is not an ordinary thread, it a thread that is running a Rexx script,
and the Rexx script spends probably greater than 99% of its time blocked by
a function it calls in my .exe. I've seen that programs like Livewire and
Zoc, when running Rexx scripts, and pressing Ctrl-Break aborts the script,
and spews the information to the terminal screen that the script was cancled
This is what I'd like to do, but probably need a signal() handler and/or a
subcommand handler?
