  Most people recommend _Real_World_Programming_For_OS/2_, and
  _Client_Server_Programming_for_OS/2_.

  If you are learning C++, then start with text-mode applications first
  (they will run on the desktop in a window), so that you become used to
  the basics of the C++ language.  *Then* learn the PM API.
