I don't like to lay blocks out on the floor either.  Probably because if I do 
I always end up with a cat on the blocks!

I want one like a lady in my guild has.  She has a big board that she put 
pellon fleece on.  She can lay out a fairly large quilt on this board.  She 
also has a design space on her wall that will hold a queen sized quilt with 
its borders.  She also has the entire downstairs that is turned into a quilt
studio.  She teaches quilting too!
