I used to have a pair of African ringnecks (smaller close cousin to the
Indian ringnecks). They could scream to wake the dead. They sounded like
a 3 pound lovebird--high pitched, ear-piercing painful screams. BUT--
fortunately, they didn't make that noise very often. Usually they saved
it for when I was in the bird room for too long, and they wanted me to
leave so they could eat in privacy (they were wild-caught, and hated
me!).
They also made some beautiful 'chortling' sounds, which I never heard
them do in my presence--I only heard it through a closed door. I suspect
a hand-fed baby would grow up to be quieter than my wild ones were.
