I tend not to write code that I have no use for personally (unless I'm
being paid!) and I don't run FastEcho here (you're about 8 years too late)
so I can't see myself ever writing/fixing/testing the FastEcho config file
code, but someone else might have a go.

Having said that though, I seem to vaguely recall FastEcho has the ability
to export its configuration in SQUISH.CFG format, which the Win32 (Cygwin)
port of timEd will be happy with, so you might want to give that a try in
the meantime.

Also, regarding the DOS version of timEd not being able to access the
message bases with LFNs, it may be possible to write a short program to
translate a SQUISH.CFG with LFNs in it to a SQUISH.CFG with SFNs, ie.

  EchoArea FTSC_PUBLIC e:\msg\fidonet\ftsc_public -$

is translated to

  EchoArea FTSC_PUBLIC E:\MSG\FIDONET\FTSC_P~1 -$

"FTSC_P~1" might not be the correct name though, so the program
would need to call the DOS interrupt function to deal with translating LFNs
to SFNS. It sounds simple enough though. Now who wants to write it? ;-)
