DM>> Yes, there's plenty of stickers and smaller Lion King stuff here
DM>> as well.
CK> Well, the big TLK craze started three years ago this month.
Cool! =) Three years already! And I still love it same much. I'll
always do. Yeah, that's a holy promise =]. Too bad that my friends Tim and
Sarah aren't on here anymore. I miss them really bad. Well, at least I
could visit Nala & Co last November. =) It was great!
CK> Disney's modus operandi seems to be flood the market with
CK> merchandise once when the movie is out and then again with the
CK> movie comes to home video and then taper off until the movie comes
CK> back from moratorium 7-10 years later.
That's very nice that there's some sort of peak-level directing the
amount of stuff one can get, but... aren't TLK T-shirts not something so
normal that you should be able to get them anytime by now? =) I'm just
wondering why it is so hard to find something. Maybe I'm just looking at
the wrong places. The most of the T-shirt shops here are selling (since
over three years now) T-shirts with some sort of mouse printed on them. But
it's not Dinsey, and however, that mouse is so popular on greeting cards
and other stuff here.... I have no idea why, because I don't like that one
=/. Okay, I sound strage like that =). It's just that when I enter a shop
full of stuff kids like, I would expect at least one-tiny-little-TLK thing
I could possibly find there. But no... expection's too high. Hannover is
weird. =)
CK> Try converting German money into US, and joining the NFFC via snail
CK> mail: [...]
        What is NFFC?
CK> You can also get a kit from the club on how to form your own local
CK> chapter.
What sort of kit, and what would my own chapter have to be like? =)
CK> So the friends you make on TLK Muck can't assist you with WWW
CK> browsing for TLK collectibles?
They sure could, and they do whenever they are asked to. The
problem is still that I don't have 24h WWW access, still. And even if I
had, I like talking to them on the muck much more, and since I love to
write letters and send drawings I make, we establish a contact that way.
It's wonderful to do that =), and that way I can cover my walls with the
most beautiful things I could collect with TLK. Sending stuff back and
forth, no thoughts wasted on money. But of course I still would love to
have more collectibles, and I sure would pay money if someone wants it.
[TLK show]
CK> Ever hear of "international tours"? ;-) The show in a few years
CK> will likely perform in Europe somewhere.
If I want to see it (I want!! =), I'd have to find away to travel
there =) -- and I must say that traveling around inside Europe isn't all
that cheap, and -- '... will likely perform in Europe' is funny since
Europe isn't all that small =). Maybe if you have sometime any information
on where exactly, and when, I would have a chance to really find it. Please
help me with this if you can? =) That would be wonderful! Thank you!!! =)
CK> Well, the soundtrack for the BatB Broadway show was very different
CK> from the animated movie. I know someone who is very into BatB and
CK> has the Broadway soundtracks as done for that show in all the
CK> countries it's played it.
As far as I remember, it's also Rich's favorite! =) The Beauty and
the Beast is a great movie. There's one very sad thing in Hunchback about
love, which is, so I think, very cruel, even more than all the violence in
it. I mean that it looks like Quasimodo is happy at the end. He's been
accepted by all the people in the end, but will he ever find love? That
would be at least same important =). At the scene where he cried when
Esmeralda kisses Phoebus, that rejection he must have felt is, I think, a
worse memory than all the violence =/. Hunchback was really the first
animated Disney movie I've seen where I was unsure whether it was okay for
a kid like 'me' to see or not. Uh, what am I bubbling. I said all that just
because I was scared =). Sorry... But however, nevermind, =), I'm sorry for
drifting off to various other topics all the time =).
CK> So while I do not know the content of the show yet, I can tell you that
CK> a soundtrack and related show merchandise will probably be different
CK> than when TLK was released on film.
Than Fan writers of Lion King stories (which I collect) have often
created either new songs of their own, so that you could read the
songtexts. Some used existing songs and told the reader what song that is,
and why they took it to change it's songtexts =). All in all I think I the
movies live a lot from their wonderful songs, and I love singing along to
them!! Do you think it would be okay to post an example? It isn't that
much, but maybe you get some entertainment =).
You betcha - I waaaant this new soundtrack =). This, for example,
would be something I could get by airmail from one of my friends. A tape or
CD when it is released... I often sent french or german TLK soundtracks in
exchange for stuff =). It's funny and I wish I could see their faces and
reactions to the foreign aspects of it all =>.
Oh, by the way -- do they have their own dubbed version of TLK in
Hungary? I'd very much like to hear/see it then!
CK> As to the rest of your questions I leave the answers up those reading
CK> the Fidonet Disney Echo.
=) Maybe Bruce M answers, he knows a lot of Disney...
CK> Just a thought: Since you can send and receive Internet E-mail,
CK> perhaps you can receive the TLK Mailing List.
That depends. I have a limit of 500 kilobytes per month. Yes,
really per month, just please don't laugh about it =). But I would love to
be connected to the mailinglist. Please, since I cannot WWW browse all the
time, can you give me the exact email address where I have to send my
message to 'SUBSCRIBE' to?
CK> Or perhaps you can request your BBS sysop to carry the Usenet
CK> newsgroups alt.fan.lion-king and rec.arts. disney.animation and
CK> rec.arts.theater.musicals (I think that is what it's called, which
CK> discusses Broadway theatre).
They say it's too expensive and since I am the only user who's
requesting any english newsgroups, they leave it at that. =( So, if you can
help me connecting to it, even if you do that yourself, I give you
permission and hope that you have a way and time to do it - to connect me
to this mailinglist, using my email address jammet@chatline.mcnet.de ...
CK> a.f.l.k and r.a.d.animation are the sources of whatever I know. Hope
CK> this helps.
Yes, the information helps me too =), all I need now is a way to
subsribe to it. That is usually done by sending an email to the right
address with the word 'subscribe' in the subject line and body of the
message. When you point with your mouse at the link that you'd have to
click on to subsribe from a WWW page, it would surely show you in the
statusline (or somewhere else) what the email address is, so that I can use
it without having to go to that WWW page. Can you do that? =)

                                            *JAMMET* =)
