According to most of the manufacturers, 'abuse' is when you're running it
more than N hours per day, at temperature Y, running operating system Z,
where N, Y, and Z match your typical usage for a system you'd use to do
business.
HEY! What a coincidence, huh?
IIRC, Hitachi has clear guidelines on hourly and temperature
recommendations, but if you're within MTBF they honor supposedly. If you go
too high on temp they get pissy. Noone else has given me anything other
than 'we determine abuse on a case-by-case basis' or similar when queried.
