BG> Simply put, guns don't kill people- people kill people.
BG> If criminals rountinly killed victims by tapping them in the temple with

BG> the cause of so many deaths! We must ban them!" Whatever... if
BG> people are stupid enough to leave their loaded firearms around
BG> where their half retarded children can get a hold of them and shoot

The 1995 FBI stats are out, and not surprisingly show:
Personal weapons (hands, feet, etc.)
Blunt Objects (nearly anything)
Firearms
Knives
As the top four classes of tools for aggravated assaults, in that order.
Firearms move to the top for serious assaults resulting in death, which is
likely why we prefer them as effective tools of self defense for over 20
imes
as many defensive uses as homicides annually.
It's tricky reading the FBI numbers, as they mix and match raw numbers and
percentages such that the male-female ratios for some categories can appear
skewed more than 5:1 if you don't look very closely.
