Car's aren't, but knives are.

That cutlery in you kitchen is a major menace. Knives have been used as
eating utensils for only a couple hundred years, but their original purpose
was to stab and cut or be put on a stick for a spear.

It's about time we start regulating Revere Ware, Mirro, Ginsu, and the rest
of the manufacturers, especially since they do not provide safety features.
