Was that Johnny M's last stop before forming Mahavishnu Orchestra?
Or did that come before his work with Miles Davis?
I listened to some of the eponymous debut by Billy Cobham's band Dreams
(with the Brecker Bros and John Abercrombie) at a used CD store the
other day. Very slightly fusiony, I suppose, but mostly Blood Sweat
& Tearsish. Which isn't all bad, but I didn't feel the need to
spend the bucks on it at the time.
Also listened to some of _Grayfolded_ (2 hours of edited excerpts from
the Grateful Dead playing "Dark Star"), which was also kinda interesting
but ultimately unneccessarryy. A little less dicking around with the
digital delay in the editing room and I might've sprung for it. But
then, I felt Neil Young's _Arc_ EP didn't quite live up to my
expectations either...
And while their computer showed the Who's _Isle Of Wight_ in stock, the
jewel box is missing so I pretty much struck out that day. The clerk
took my phone number in case it turns up, but considering he misspelled
both "Isle" AND "Wight", I don't have high hopes.
They DID have the 2 disc Various Artists _Isle Of Wight 1970_, but
I couldn't see $16 just to get ELP doing "Rondo"... Well, there's
probably lots of other decent stuff on there, but I guess I'm just
not in the mood for one live song each from Tull, TYA, ELP, Taste,
the Who, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, etc, etc...
