I remember when the first Kmart went in in Savannah, GA back in '66, I believe. It was out on Victory Drive, as I recall, opening not long before I took my second, and last, discharge. > It has happened. That sucks. > It has happened to me, I just dodged them bullets. Good for you. I was downsized from a good position (Mtech divison of Mcorp) with a big salary at 46 in a small town (Tulsa), with three kids in college. I was out of work for some 14 months before I got on at the oil company. Had to learn a whole new business and new discipline but at least I was able to keep a roof over our head and the kids in school until they graduated. Started at less than half of my salary at the bank but wound up working for that small oil company for over 16 years and even got a number of ORRIs for my efforts. Never did get back to the salary level I held at Mtech, but it was still good. ;) > Barring Office Depot doing a Kmart type of collapse, I am relatively > certain I wont face a layoff, I hope it doesn't come to that for you, Ross. Been there and done that and it's certainly not very high in entertainment value. Besides I wouldn't wish that on anyone. -- A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned how to walk forward. -- Franklin D.
