OK, now this is the second time tonight I've read something about
patriotism and flags and anthems and blood and war. I was reading about
Bob Carr wanting to change the anthem again to Waltzing Matilda because
everyone knows the words to it.  Someone else brought up the war.


Now, we claim to live in a peaceful society, but why the f* is it that
people think for a flag or anthem to MEAN anything that it has be flown
or sung during a time of war????

Surely there must be some other way for a society/country to get nice
warm fuzzies about a flag or anthem without war and bloodshed???

Can a country have patriotism without having to fight a bloody battle
just to exist?   Hmm......

   I think when the aliens come to visit, this should be
the first thing they ask about, especially if they're looking to find a
peaceful, non-agressive society.  That way they'll know up front
what/who they're dealing with.
