| subject: | Re: EMX is a pain in the rear... |
Hi Richard! RG> I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this little problem with Installing EMX RG> v0.9a. I've installed as per the instructions, and I am positive that all of my RG> original archives were not corrupted. (I got them off of the June '95 Hobbes CD-Rom). RG> Whenever I compile any program, even the sample programs that come with EMX, I get an RG> error "not enough memory to run emxbind". That's fine, except that I've got well over 9 RG> meg PHYSICAL memory free (I've got 16 meg total, and unless I'm doing a lot of RG> multitasking, at least 9 meg is always free), and there is plenty of room for the swap RG> file to grow if it needs to. (It can grow to about 40 meg no problem). Now, these files RG> I'm trying to compile are a grand total of 2,000 bytes! Well, I haven't run across that kind of problem so far, but first thing you should probably do is put the emx/dll library to the first place of your LIBPATH statement in your config.sys. If this helps you might have an old version of any of the emx*.dll's on your system. Find it, delete it (the newer versions are compatible to all older ones) and change back your config.sys.
