I discovered that. It's so hellish fast with blockread() that I can't measure it (probably as fast as C). DD> Your identifiers are not very meaningful (self documenting). They are to me. I always use inp and oup for input and output files, and any dickhead knows i is an integer. IMO, identifiers that say things like: ThereIsA_FairLandFarAway give me the shits, and besides, I can never type the same thing twice.
