G'day Roy, RM> RM> GM> learned more about black stars than I ever knew before. RM> GG> ^^^^^^^^^^^ RM> RM> GG> UGH!!!! RM> RM> GG> Repent Mrs. Gasson, or the pedantic bastards are gonna get you RM> GG> and force you to read Rod Speed messages for a week. RM> RM> We're harsh and brutal here. *Two* weeks. You're a cruel bastard, Roy. RM> GG> Ok, all right already. I repent. black holes. RM> RM> GG> ... You'd think a wise pedantic like Roy would have noticed RM> ^^^^^^^^ RM> pedant. Pedantic is the adjective. Err. :-( RM> GG> so terribly obvious though. Maybe he doesn't really know what RM> GG> he's talking about. ;-) RM> RM> Several reasons I left it alone (mostly bloody patronising): LOL. :-) RM> (a) When a pupil comes to you with wonder in his eyes and says RM> "Hey, I understood that!!", you don't say "There's a bit of green RM> snot in your left nostril." OH? Oh that's right, I've never been in Aussie schools. RM> (b) A slip-up like that is most likely to be picked up by other RM> students, or by the slipupper herself. This is good, it shows RM> they're thinking instead of just listening. Oh good. :-) RM> (c) the phrase had a certain poetry... It did, didn't it? RM> RM> images wobbly), and whaddya know, I scored Pluto!!! Right at RM> RM> GG> :-) RM> RM> RM> limit, had to use averted vision and had to check with the RM> RM> shortsighted eye as well as the straight one, but it was in an RM> RM> empty area, and the brightness was about right, so I reckon RM> RM> I've scored! Does that count as satisfying?? RM> RM> GG> Was it better than sex?? RM> Hmm.. prefaced by some planning, then involving heavy lifting, a RM> bit of tweaking, some careful moves and gentle nudges, a lot of RM> concentration in dim red light, while taking care not to breathe in RM> the wrong direction, culminating in a buzz that I won't forget for RM> many years. Better than routine sex? You bet. What is routine sex? I don't think I've ever tried that. Hey Rod, have I been missing something, honey? ;-) RM> RM> (pardon the gush, but there's nobody else here I can tell...) RM> GG> That's how most affairs start, you know. RM> RM> Shame about the distance. But since you're still listening RM> (briefly, no doubt...), Yup... only until Rod distracts me. And I'm easily distracted by him. BTW, I had been only using Gasson in the AVTECH echo, but earlier this week I sent out messages on the other places I frequent (Internet newsgroups, CBM Fidonet echos, a couple different BBS systems... the magazines I write for...) that from 15 August forward I'm officially using the name Gaelyne Gasson. RM> I spotted two comets from the backyard tonight. Hale-Bopp is easy, RM> it's a binocular object at the moment Cool! My kids tried to one up me when I told them about seing the Southern Cross and told me that while I was gone they saw a comet. Thanks to you (or someone on this echo), we also saw the comet, so they didn't succeed in one-uping me. :-) RM> even though it's still 3.5 a.u. out, but Kopff is quite a bit RM> dimmer at mag 7.4, just a vague smudge from here. What, you mean God needs a better version of Adobe Photoshop already? Sheesh. RM> Good season for comets. There have been five so far, although most RM> have been quite dim. Neat. :-) Cheers, Gaelyne ... I liked QWKRR128 so much, I married the programmer. :-) -=- QWKRR128 V5.0B [R] ---* Origin: Lunar Illuminations / moranec{at}hal9000.net.au (3:800/809.64) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 623/630 711/409 413 430 808 809 934 712/515 713/888 SEEN-BY: 714/906 800/1 2 3 409 414 419 439 447 453 805 809 810 812 822 843 SEEN-BY: 800/846 868 876 890 894 @PATH: 800/809 2 1 711/808 934 |
