I think it's a lot to do with egos clashing. Some of my favourite music
has been produced by people who couldn't stand the sight of each other -
Deep Purple (Gillan vs Blackmore), The Who (Townsend vs Daltrey),
Genesis (Banks vs Gabriel), Marillion (Fish vs Pointer). Probably one of
the reasons the music is so good is that it has to be accepted by the
antagonist though.
Also, one of the main reasons for the arguments is that it's the band
leader vs the media celeb, and in all cases but one (with one draw), the
media celeb has lost out.
