PF> "We were hired by a graphics software developer to adopt a PF> multi-platform deployment strategy for their products," added Peter PF> Fitzsimmons, president of A:Ware, a consulting firm. "Using the beta PF> version of the Developer API Extensions, we were amazed at how PF> quickly and easily we ported the Windows application to OS/2. jl> Was it a Win16 or Win32 program? Everything I've heard about DAPIE so jl> far is that it is "only" for porting Win32 apps to It was a win32 program (for Windows 3.1, using Watcom's 32bit windows extensions). jl> OS/2. However, there are not so many differences in jl> Win16 and Win32 API's so that it wouldn't be difficult jl> to port Win16 apps, too. I have a Windows program I would think that the largest problem with be with the 16bit'ness of the code -- not with the Windows api. Fortunately, the code I was given was all 32bitisized, and compiled without warning at /w4 (approx 150,000 lines) For the curious -- the product is called "MGI Photoworks" (formerly Ditek Photoworks). The Windows95 version is currently bundled with AST computers. If the OS/2 version (and DAPIE) work out well, I may port their new QuarkExpress/PageMaker type program (called MGI Calamus) to OS/2 too. No formal announcement has been made, and I'm not even sure if I should be mentioning it -- so please don't call ditek/mgi asking them about it yet! --- Maximus/2 3.00* Origin: Sol 3 * Toronto * V.32 * (905)858-8488 (1:259/414) SEEN-BY: 270/101 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 807 808 809 934 955 712/407 SEEN-BY: 712/515 517 628 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 259/414 400 99 250/99 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 809 934 |
