-> CH> But both NTFS and HPFS are -far- superior file systems to FAT32 in
both
-> CH> performance and storage efficiency. Such is the price one pays for
"backwar
-> CH> compatiblity" with obsolete 15-25 year old software technology .
-> how do you upgrade to NTFS and HPFS filesystems? Do you need NT?
You need either OS/2 or upto NT v3.51 or NT 4.0 with NT 3.51's PINBALL.SYS
to use HPFS. Any version of NT support NTFS. Only NT is capable of using
NTFS.
Windows 95 doesn't support NTFS or HPFS. FAT32 uses fewer resources than
HPFS or NTFS so can be more easily supported in a DOS ONLY session of Windows
95. DOS only and having better file storage efficiency than the -grossly-
inefficient FAT (FAT16, VFAT)is FAT 32's sole reason for existence.
