The remote install uses what is called 'thinlaps' - a reduced function
network function. Once you have the boot disks for the remote, you
have to run the server on the machine with the CDROM. FWIW, I've never
been able to get the server to run correctly by following the remote
install process all the way thru. What I did was to copy the
\CID\SRVIFS directory off the CDROM to my hard drive, then check to
make sure the net name matches what was created on the floppies. Look
in \CID\SRVIFS\SERVICE.INI for NAME, then check the config.sys on the
floppies for SRVATTACH ..... for the same name. Make them match. Now
open 2 OS/2 windows on the host. change both to the \CID\SRVIFS
directory. In one, just run SERVICE. In the other, run SERVICE /s to
monitor the progress and make sure it's perking. When all done, run
SERVICE /Q to clean up.
With the server running, boot the remote from the floppies and press
on - just like having a slightly slow CDROM. If you still have
problems - some hardware is REALLY picky, I can email you some long,
painful discussions about workarounds and fixes.
