| subject: | Rexx Compilers For Os/2 |
Excerpted from message dated 11-26-95, Bob Quinlan to All:
BQ>Does anyone know of a freeware or shareware REXX compiler for OS/2?
Hi Bob--
AFAIK, there are no REXX compilers for OS/2, or for anything else
other than a mainframe. Even that one is not a real compiler, it is
more like a p-code builder.
REXX was designed from scratch to be an interpreted language.
The EXE files built by some of the "visual" REXX program builders
contain the vendor's run-time DLL and the REXX code that will be
interpreted on execution. Those "compilers" don't compile anything.
If you get a post from David Noon contradicting this, believe him!
