G'day Paul,

On 24-04-95 22:47, Paul Edwards said to Jeff Green

 PE> You mean, e.g. on 22 Apr at 00:31? I got a "CONNECT 14400" this

PE> end, and then some junk characters, and then 1 minute later you

PE> called and got a "CONNECT 14400 EC/MNP4". I presume that it was

 PE> you the first time?

Here's a copy of my log. The times are a bit different, but your
description matches it fairly closely.

PE> What I don't understand is why I never seem to have a mail

PE> session with someone when they fail to get an error

PE> correcting session. I mean, the lines aren't that bad that

PE> we all have to give up the moment we see "CONNECT 14400" are

 PE> they?

Dunno. My mail run is automatic so it's the modem saying it doesn't like
non-error correcting connects.

PE> BTW, I noticed an anomaly in your connect. Can you do the

 PE> following:

PE> 1. Use the new btpealph I am sending you

PE> 2. Comment out the "loglevel" statement in your binkley.cfg

PE> 3. Next time you connect to me, send me the binkley.log for

PE> the time of our connect.

Ok, that's setup and ready to go.
