Not true .....
You can redirect a local LTP1 !
Of course it won't work as local printer anymore, at least until you don't 
delete the redirection.
I allways thought the same as you... But one day I added a printer card, an 
LPT2 . The machine kept on printing to his previous LPT2 redirection, until I 
deleted it.
