In Texas, or at least the county of Bexar, they have a label printer. 
You get checked in on the computer and three labels get printed.  One 
gets pasted in the book, which is facing the voter and which he signs. 
One goes....hmmm, I forget... and the third goes to the voter.  The 
voter gives it to the poll worker who takes him to the machine and 
resets it.

As I remember, the label has the page and position of where your label 
got pasted in the book.
