The Beatles CDs were done so badly (IMHO) that it's pretty easy to make 
a home CD that sounds better than the EMI released ones, assuming you 
have a high-end analog system.  I have a Japanese red vinyl mono Sgt 
Pepper that plays very clean and would make an incredible sounding CD. 
Of course, that would be illegal as I understand it, if one offered to 
distribute such a thing to another person.

My Uraguy mono Sgt. Pepper pressing plays brilliantly too.  I've got an 
original Italian Sgt. Pepper, but alas, that one is stereo. :-)
