subject: EMX 0.9A GCC OS/2 Compiler problem

Hello Daniel,

DM> I recently go the EMX GCC/2 compiler. Well. I have read a lot of
DM> documetation on setting it up, but to no aveil, I am no better off than
DM> when I first unarchived the suckers.

Same here :(

DM> Here is my CONFIG.SYS settings:

Basicly the same here.

 DM> I then ReBooted OS/2
 DM> Then I entered: EMXINST
 DM> CD\EMX\LIB
 DM> OMFLIBS
DM> I tried many different things and many examples. I keep getting many
DM> warnings. One particualr is No such file or directory...

Same old song here :(((

DM> Here are the development files I unzipped:
DM> BSDEV EMXDEV EMXRT GNUDEV GPPDEV VESA18
DM> However, I am missing the SVGA18 archive, is that important?

don't know.

DM> Currently, I am not using a make file, nor a 'make' program... Do I need
DM> one? How would I use it? Where could I get a freeware 'make' from? The
DM> BBS I downloaded these files from had a limited supply of EMX/GNU...
 DM> stuff.

The should be a make-prog in your GNU-directory somewhere, perform a find
make.exe, I suggest. I saw several instances of GNUMAKExx.ZIP around, but
the name of a dutch BBS wouldn't do you much good I guess.
Also I found BAKE, als an alternative Make, that works much easier. As to
the working with make, my advice is to look into the supplied makefile in
for example your test\ directory. That will give you an idea of what make
is doing, and above that where it's going wrong. (That's how far I got:
This is going wrong, but I don't know how to fix it)

DM> Is there anymore information I need to supply to help me with my problem.

 DM> Oh, the O.S. I am running is OS/2 Warp v3.
DM> The hard ware is a 486sx-25 with 8 mb ram and about 50 mb available disk
DM> space for learning to program in the OS/2 PM environment.

Me, OS/2 Warp v3, 486dx-66, 16 mb, 200mb diskspace available.

Couldn't help you really, I'll keep you posted of my progressions. Please do so too.

Bye, /|rmand
