For now, I've jsut used DumpSec to get a list of the users in a group. 
This will do for the moment at least but I'll keep my eyes open for a
solution and post it here if I come across one.  One thing I did find was
that it appears to be possible in Unix as you can assign a user to a group
(i.e. a user that can manage a particular group) but next to "Ho to do
this in NT" it said "Don't know" which wasn't too helpful ;)
