Since NT3.51 there's been a 'TransmitFile' API for Windows Sockets that is
supposed to enhance performance by directly using the file system's buffers
to drive the network send. The new HTTP implementation would appear to
extend this. I doubt they're doing more than sending files in kernel mode,
but I expect that even with complex sites most Web server traffic is
actually simple file transfer.
