From: Randall Parker

Bill,

I probably should have asked him more questions since I just got a reply
from Jacob Sullum:

Dear Mr. Parker:

The 1852 case, which the Supreme Court has repeatedly cited in double
jeopardy rulings, is Moore v. Illinois, 55 U.S. 13. The Black quote,
contrary to what Bill Lucy seems to think, is not from Green v. United
States. It is from Bartkus v. Illinois, 359 U.S. 121 (1959).

It's not clear to me what Mr. Lucy thinks I got wrong, but it seems he does
not know as much as he thinks he does.

Jacob Sullum
