Oh, not at all. Any good C++ compiler, ie; Watcom, Borland
Microsoft, will compile C programs as well as C++. You'll
need to use a .c extension on your source files and if
you want to do ANSI C set the syntax checking for it. You
have lots of learning to do. A C/C++ compiler is a really
neat thing. It's also complex, so you'll want to read the
manual as much as you can stand it (can make for some dry
reading... great if your having trouble going to sleep).
You need to start receiving the "C Echo". If the BBS your
downloading mail from does not have the C echo just tell the
Sysop to get it. It's no problem for him and Sysops are
usually thrilled to have actually message writers around.
