subject: formatting output... Rexx

On Tue 21 Nov about 08:32, Erik Huelsmann retorted in a
message to Richard Wallen about formatting output... Rexx

Hello Erik!
[...]
 RW> start = time('e')
 RW> rc = FtpGet(filename, filename,"binary") /* Transfer
the file */
 RW> elapsed = time('e')
 RW> calc_cps = sizehere/elapsed-start

 EH> Shouldn't this be:
 EH> calc_cps = sizehere/(elapsed-start)

EH> instead of what you wrote:
 EH> calc_cps = (sizehere/elapsed)-start

 EH> Multiplycation/division has precedence over subtraction/addition
EH> (division sounds absolutely wrong, but what is the right word?)

Ahem... I guess I got so caught up in the presentation I let the basic
concepts whoop me ;] ... Corrected... and correct for the term used. I
initialized a start time for 'time()', performed a function, saved the
elapsed time again... performed the calcs... then I format the output...
slap!

ending with ...
say ' Received 'filename ', size - 'sizehere 'bytes received at '
[wrapped]format(calc_cps,5,1) 'cps')

then the output with upto 5 integers and 1 dec is displayed properly... thanks!

A little more each day...
