I was just reading a book called "That's Blaxploitation: Roots of the
Baadasssss 'Tude (Rated X by an All'Whyte Jury)" by Darius James.  The
book came out in '95.  I can't recommend it, but there are some
interesting interviews, including one with Pam Grier.

In addition to some references to her failed romance with Richard
Pryor, Pam gives an account of the night that John and Harry decided to
catch the Smothers Brothers' act.  She also claims to have talked with
John one-on-one outside the club afterwards, and says that he tried to
get her to spend some time with him.  She declined, mentioned that he
was still with Yoko, and according to her account she took the
opportunity to counsel him about his marital situation.  However, it
does sound as if she found Lennon intriguing.

Other accounts do place Pam Grier at the club, but I had never heard
her speak about it personally, and hadn't seen it mentioned in rmbm.
It's a fairly detailed story that she tells. Anybody else seen this
one?
