BG> But isn't that just typically good UI stuff? I mean, PMFax BG> does exactly the same thing here, even down to simply dragging BG> a WFW document icon and dropping it onto the PMFax icon, and BG> it sends the fax in the background, completely seamlessly. RS> We are talking about two different things here. Yes, they both RS> just treat the fax as a printer. BUT WFWG will auto recognise RS> that it sees another WFWG at the other end, and send the file RS> as a normal binary file to the other end if it does. No farting RS> around with OCRing it back to a text file etc at the receiving RS> end in that case. Totally transparently to the use. BG> I'm still a little confused here. Are you saying BG> that it actually sends the file as an uncompressed BG> ASCII file, rather than a graphical fax image? Yes. Tho if its say a spreadsheet it would be the normal disk file, a binary file, not ascii. But yes, not as a fax with dots etc. RS> THATs very elegant for a droid. BG> Yeah, PMFax certainly won't do that, as far as I can tell. Thats right. Some fax progs can be told to do that. by the user, usually when you have the same fax prog at each end. BUT the chances are obviously much higher that you have WFWG at bother ends, AND its done transparently, the user doesnt need to know anything about it. At either end. BG> Funny, my Intel fax software would though, but I think the BG> other end also had to support the CAS format. Sounds like BG> WFWG has now gone one step further. Its not that uncommon in fax progs to have it manually available, they usually call it a binary mode or something. Its the automatic and transparent switch to that mode which is special with WFWG. BG> Yeah, noticed that yesterday. Although I must admit, I think BG> he may have a SOH after all. I don't think he was actually BG> having a genuine go at you, but then I have been wrong before. RS> Sure, I didnt mean that he was just doing an Arfur, Arfur RS> appears to have none at all. Both John and Andrew do RS> appear to have woken up eventually to what was going on. BG> The really unfortunate thing about email sarcasm is that BG> quite often it just comes across as a direct insult. Yeah, most of the subtlety is missing. BG> Then again, I guess that's still their problem. BG> Arthur's protracted silence of late speaks volumes too. |-) Yeah, rather amusing. RS> Tho I notice the Macedonian managed to go totally incandescent with RS> rage. Very amusing to see what reaction he got in Z3_Tech too |-) BG> That looked very much to me like personal antagonism, with a BG> bit of ad hominem thrown in for good measure. Rather embarrassing BG> for him when his counter claim was shown to be wrong though. BOTH of them too, one of the most dramatic egg all over the body episodes I have seen in quite some time |-) BG> Hasn't shown his face in there since. |-) Yeah, talk about trying to make yourself invisible |-) BG> Wish Russell's parents had sacrificed him though. Not too late is it? |-) RS> Yeah, still havent quite worked out what flavor of FRZ they are. BG> Presbyterian or Lutheran is my guess, possibly the former. What's yours? RS> Dunno. At once time I thought they might even be jewish with a RS> last name like that, they can be extremely florid in the ultra RS> orthodox, but thats since become clear its totally wrong. There was RS> some support for that quite stupid stuff the pope came out with RS> lately on the new sins, which made me wonder if it was even catholic. BG> Could be, but even the catholics don't entertain the weird ideas BG> about "no drugs shall pass these lips" while enjoying a cup of tea, BG> coffee, or Coke. Thats not strictly true, they do have some ultra loopy sects. One lot even today still wears hair shirts and thin chains that bite into the body, worn under the clothes. You think I am joking dont you ? BG> That's more your JW or SDA types (Mormons are a bit funny like that too). Yeah, thats certainly true. RS> Short story is that I dunno. BG> And the even shorter story, who cares? |-) True. Interesting exercise in looking for subtle clues tho in some ways. --- PQWK202* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
