JM$.02-worth, but I got the impression that what the original
poster'd meant was the differentiation between the 283 CID
(carbureted) & 283 HP (f/i) versions, since the same # could be
used for each & there might possibly be some confusion involved
due to using the same term while talking about two different
setups. :)
