Hi, Jim;
JB> Howdy, I just purchased a "Carolina Beam 80 Special" and run into a
JB> problem and that is ,you could set it up 2 ways and it is 42feet with
JB> a 8 ft ,10 ft ,16 ft radiators or a 50 ft with 8 ft ,10 ft ,8 ft
JB> radiators ..Well the problem is ,I can put it up 40ft size but all I
JB> have is 2 trees I could tie too and the two end radiators are in the
JB> branches...By using it that way is that going to affect much or should
JB> I just forget using it? Any info on this would be
JB> appreciated...Thanks....
It should work allright IF you have a third support point, like the roof
of your house, positioned so that you could install it in a "Lazy Vee"
configuration, that is the two ends anchored to the trees, and a third
support which pulls it into a horizontal "Vee" shape. But KEEP THE ENDS
OF THE ANTENNA OUT OF THE TREES! If the ends, (high-voltage points) of
the antenna are in, or even really close to the trees, you will get high
SWR, which will change with the weather, and could even set the tree on
fire under the proper conditions! If you can't use it as a Lazy Vee,
then you may have to do something else for a skyhook.
Good luck!
