                          CLASSIFIEDS ECHO RULES
                             Revised   7-15-97
    1.  All users MUST use their 'REAL' names.   Aliases  are permitted 
        at the END of your message ONLY!  Personal signatures with your 
        Internet address are allowed at the end of messages!
    2.  NO COMMERCIAL OR BUSINESS POSTING  in this echo!   The CFORSALE 
        echo  exists  on the  BackBone for commercial sales.  If you're
        selling items, or services, as a business  and your BBS doesn't
        carry that echo then ask your SysOp to import it for you.  Lets
        all try to stick to the spirit  of the non-commercial rule, not
        just the letter of the law.  If you're doing this as a business
        and simply  not including a business  header, please reconsider
        your actions.  Thanks!
    3.  NO PERSONAL ATTACKS OR PERSONALS ADS!   Flames, profanity & any
        adult  language  do not belong in this echo and  "WILL NOT"  be
        tolerated!   Play nice, and don't put anything here  that you'd
        not want your children or parents to see.
    4.  NO WEAPONS (of any kind) OR ADULT ITEMS!  Since the laws on all
        these vary from state to state  and  it is hard to know what is
        legal where it is better to take this to other echos that cater 
        to these items.  Check them out!
    5.  NO BBS ADS!  This is a NATIONAL echo and most of us do not care
        about the newest BBS with the best  game doors and gifs that is
        on the opposite  coast.   Some of us even  object to paying the
        freight to move these useless announcements.
    6.  HIGH-END  CHARACTERS  (8-bit ASCII/ANSI escape codes)  ARE  NOT
        ALLOWED! They can cause havoc on some systems so are best to be
        avoided.
    7.  NO PRIVATE MESSAGES!   Some people need  to be reminded that no 
        that no matter what status you set on a message, if it is in an 
        echomail conference it WILL NOT stay private but become PUBLIC!
    8.  TEST MESSAGES AND CHATTER DO NOT BELONG IN THIS ECHO!   Many of 
        the SysOps invest their own money to transport this echo & test
        messages add no value to the echo.
    9.  PLEASE AVOID EXCESSIVE QUOTING! It costs money to send messages
        BUT DO QUOTE enough so others know what you are refering to.
   10.  ONLY THE MODERATOR WILL ADDRESS OFF TOPIC MESSAGES!  If you see
        something you believe is off-topic or illegal,  send me netmail
        about it.  DO NOT RESPOND IN THE ECHO!
   11.  If a change in moderators becomes necessary, it will be done in
        an orderly manner.  The current moderator will post the request
        in the echo and ask for names  of those  interested in the job.
        The decision  will be made by the current moderator  from those
        names submitted.
     These rules are subject to change,  and additions  as circumstances 
     require!  I have no desire  to bog us down  with bereaucracy, but I
     intend to insure an orderly and pleasant atmosphere for the conduct 
     of buying, selling, and trading.
ADDENDUM: Because this echo costs many people money to transport, I have
          asked in the past,  and will ask again, that REPOSTS of ADS be
          LIMITED to ONCE EVERY WEEK!  Let's all try to be considerate!
    
ADDENDUM: Due to the recent rash of rules violations I will post my norm
          procedures for rules violators!
          1st violation gets a warning and a rules posting
          2nd violation gets another warning and a rules posting again
          3rd violation gets a 2 week suspension
          4th violation gets a 1 month suspension
          Any subsequent violation gets you from a 3 month to permanent
          suspension based on the moderators discression.
