If you consider that HWND is a "magic cookie", and that somewhere in
the bowels of Presentation Manager there is a structure that
represents a window on screen, recording its position and whatnot,
then window words can simply be considered to be elements of this
internal structure that are available for application use.

Window words are not in themselves variables that you can somehow
access from C or C++. As far as you are concerned, windows are "black
boxes", and the only thing that you know about them is their HWND.
Window words are data that you, the application writer, can put into
and retrieve back out of a window, knowing only its HWND.
