There are some poisonous saltwater fish near the US but no dangerous
freshwater fish that I know of. The three popular catfish here
(Flathead, Blue, and Channel) all have very sharp spurs on their
pectoral and dorsal fins that inflict a painful injury if you hand them
carelessly though.
