I worked out why the extensions to my mail packets were wrong.  Squish
renames them if the unpacker doesn't work properly.  Or at least, it did
under my particular circumstances.  SO I fixed the path problem, renamed
the files again and all was well.  I expect to get all my mail for the
last two months tonight, so you'll have ten or so meg free soon... :)

Question:  do you know of any common (well known) problem with
Bink/Squish/Maximus (for OS/2) based BBSs having problems with the
frequent resetting of users OLR pointers?  Didn't you have that problem
back in the days when people were  using OLRs on your
board?
