Antic is quite a relative term in military aviation. The Prowler was build
sometime in '72 basing on the A-6 which has its beginnings somwhere in the
late 50's. The ADV Tornado was test flown first in '79.

I know, what I wanted to state is that low flying jet airplanes are not
exactly welcome anywhere in the world, not even in New Mexico. I also know
that lot long ago, a lot of low flying had to be done in the far more crowded
Germany, which was, of course, also subject to serious protests. The risk of
accidents in New Mexico is a bit lower, especially those involving civilians.
Only recently a Phantom of the Luftwaffe cut an ultralight airplane in half
without really noticing it. (Pilot called out a Birdstike :(, he would only
belive it after he was shown a piece of flight Overall which still sticked to
is Wing...)
Accidents happen all the time, but we should make sure to keep them at a
minimum, and that starts imho with pilots keeping in mind what responsibility
they have, and if an accident happens, to make sure that this must not happen
again. The worst one could do is to destroy evidence. It just puts one into
an extremly bad light. - learn from accidents, Do not accept them as the
price for whatever.

I spent a year in south Texas with my family, and we where also very welcome.
I appriciate that, and Americans are usually welcome anywhere in Germany, at
least anywhere and by anyone I know. After all, German and American History
could hardly be written without one another, right?

Oh, I am. Really! At least this way I can fly my ultralight and soaring
planes a bit more "carefree". Without having to watch my 6 all the time.
So long,
        Ulf!
