Hello, All. This is something you all might like. I am in the process of emptying out a storage room that I've had for years and moving into another storage room that's half the size of the old one. During this, I found a SuperMicro P6SBA motherboard that was given to me a few years ago in perfect condition. I put a spare Celeron/400 (Slot A case IIRC) in it, booted it up, and it works. I tried putting OS/2 on the system and it flies, so I put the motherboard in a brand-new case I've been carrying around in the original cardboard box for a few years. It's actually pretty fast and seems to be perfect for the BBS. Since my BBS doesn't really get a ton of usage, it was a waste to use a multi-gigahertz system for it. I've got some more work to do on it, such as put in a NIC and configure OS/2 the way I want it for the BBS, but hopefully within a week or two I'll have my old new system up and running. I just couldn't bring myself to toss the motherboard. :) Later, Sean ... Bigamy: one wife too many. Monogamy: same idea. --- GoldED/2 3.0.1* Origin: Outpost BBS * Johnson City, TN * bbs.outpostbbs.net (1:18/200) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/0 267 280 281 402 408 640/384 712/0 620 771 848 770/1 @PATH: 18/200 261/38 712/848 633/280 267 |
