RA>This is actually how I want it to operate. If the 64NET author doesn't RA>do it then I might just pull the finger out and do it myself! Good luck! I bet you have fun makiing the parrallell 64 serial converter circuit (: RA>Exactly! As well as being able to get lots of relatively cheap hard RA>disk space, I also want full compatibility with all software! :) Yep, & I've got this idiot box under my desk (otherwise known as a pc) just waiting to be used as a 40meg 64 drive! (: RA>Sure, and it actually has merit! I'll pass this along to Paul. Mind RA>you, the translation of the serial signals from the 64 to and from RA>64net are the whole problem anyway! :) Haha, I was surprised you took me seriously (: I can see some software problems with this design, as I would assume the data comes in from the pc through the user port as parralel. You'd have to have an interupt running to read the data from the user port, but at the same time you'd need a separate interupt running to handle the serial bus. Difficult! You'd probably have to buffer it, ie read xx bytes from pc, send xx bytes over serial bus etc I'd love to help with this project, but unfortunately my ML is more with graphics & animation (ie demos), and I know practically nothing about the low level workings of the serial bus. I've been trying to get my hands on a 1541 reference book or similar that handles this topic - know of such a beast? RA>There's a PD version around - I'm not sure which BBS's have it. I RA>guess I'll have to upload it to each 64 support BBS I call! Had a search on WOW, nothing there. I'll try space station but otherwise I'll wait for you to upload it (hint hint (: ) cya, Errol btw, had an idea - why not use the X1541 system to handle the serial bus? ie direct connection from the 64 to the pc's parralel port, and have the pc's parralel port 'emulate' a serial bus? Would cut out any circuitry (or extra 64 (: ) between the 2 machines. Again now you've got the problem of writing the driver for the pc.. errr..
