David, at 06:54 on Jul 06 1995, you wrote to Dieter Mirbach... DM> With speed cameras and radar units, the displayed speed DM> should be readily seen by the infringee. DD> Except of course where one is stopped down the road from the radar trap by DD> another officer. I have NEVER been invited to walk back to the radar DD> equipment and view the readout. Wouldn't help anyway, as the infringement speed isn't locked on the Fairey's display like it is on the KR-11s. It changes as each passing vehicle's speed is checked. I have been shown the locked display on the KR-11 mobiles more than once though (I'm extremly sorry to say). BTW, the slant-beam Fairey's are checked for +/-1km/h accuracy both before AND after each "session", and if there is a discrepancy, all tickets issued during that session are voided. It happened to me once, several years ago. I'd been booked at Chermside, and a week or so later, received as letter telling me not to pay the fine. No reason was given, but further investigation showed that there had been some doubt as to the unit's accuracy. Lucky, eh? :) Regards, Bill @EOT: --- Msgedsq/2 3.10* Origin: Save our native fauna.
