subject: Bloody internet

Hello Gaelyne,

CB>> would be appriciated. One thing I'd like to have a look
CB>> at is a "real time chatting" program... anyone help?

GG> The name of the program is MIRC.

I got an NT version of that a couple of days ago, installed
it, and get a "failed to connect to host" type error message
on running it. I'll ask the guy that runs the ISP service
for help, but I'll leave it a few days until he gets a more
pressing problem his end sorted out.

It seems that he was using the Telstra "backbone" and they
hit him with a sudden price increase... he told them no thanks,
and got a 512k feed from another service supplier.. 4 times
Telstra's speed for the same as their original cost :)
They reckon on about a week to change it all over.

GG> I'm not planning a Win95/NT version of the book but if you use Telix
GG> or some other regular term program to access the Net, I'd be happy to
GG> send you an autographed copy when it's finished. (Nearing completion
 GG> as I type).

Like I said to Rod in the last message, I wasn't so much after
advice on what software to run my end, but rather what the
new words mean and basically how the internet works.
I can't help the feeling that below all those fancy animated
web pages there is a whole lot more to it...

Anyway, yes, put me down for a copy of your book! Any idea
on a release date?

Regards,
Chris.
