Usually and by default, NetBIOS is run over NetBEUI. Optionally, you can run
NetBIOS over TCP/IP, which is called "TCPBEUI." You must have TCP/IP
configured in order to run NetBIOS over it, obviously.
The main difference is that NetBEUI cannot go through a router, so
establishing connectivity using NetBIOS across a router requires TCPBEUI
instead of NetBEUI. There are also some other special cases, as when talking
to software (particularly Unix Samba) that knows how to do NetBIOS over
TCPBEUI but not over NetBEUI.

Ordinarily, you would establish connectivity using IPX if you run the NetWare
Client for OS/2. You must also see that your frame types match. Although
Ethernet_802.2 is the default for IPX on NW 3.12, many servers are configured
for the old Ethernet_802.3 frame type which was the default for NW 3.11.
It is unusual to run TCP/IP for NetWare connectivity, and really not a good
idea with regular OS/2 Warp instead of OS/2 Warp Connect. IPX should work
fine, however, using the 2.11 client.
