Yo Joe,
First off, thanks for Duke Nukem 3D. It is absolutely, mind-blowingly
brilliant. Having said that (you just *knew* there was a 'but' coming,
didn't you? ), I have a couple of points I'd like to raise.
I have a 'minimum spec.' machine (486dx2/66, 8mb RAM, SB16). The
shareware version ran really smoothly, albeit with reduced sound quality
and a slightly smaller screen size. However, the full retail version
(including my own levels) do not seem to run as well and are very 'jerky'.
I was just wondering if the code had been 'Pentium optimised' or something,
causing a reduced performance on anything less.
Secondly, the Build engine. Whilst I appreciate the fact that you have
included it (thanks again :-) ), it would have been nice if you could
have taken a little time to explain how to create doors, lifts, etc. You
know, a few of the 'extras' other than the basic features. It didn't
take me long to produce a basic level but I cannot figure out the more
advanced stuff as mentioned above. Any pointers, if you have the time,
would be much appreciated. BTW, are these things covered in the Duke
Nukem book that I believe is available?
One final thing, whilst I have you attention. I don't suppose there
will be any futher instalments of ROTT, will there?
Once again, many thanks for a terrific game.
I'm outta here.........
