SH> Really! Mine could use one too! My Grey is so cute in
SH> the morning... if everyone sleeps past daybreak, you can
SH> hear him in there talking (under his cage cover) very
SH> softly to himself. Of course as soon as he hears a voice
SH> or household sound, he gets loud!
hehehee the stupid one starts his mating call...as soon as the
sun shines...but my favorite starts talking as soon as he hears
me move...;) Then the rest follow...the lovebird doesn't talk of
course but she will let out a beep when she hears me moving
around...so the first thing I have to do is uncover
everyone...then Scooby expects to get out as soon as the cover is
removed...so of course I let him out and he does the morning
ritual with me...;) Then it is breakfast time...;)
ST> Oooh...doesn't he throw all of his feathers on the floor???
ST> My Tiels seem to like to pick up the feathers and throw them
ST> out of the cage and there isn't a feather in the lovebrats
ST> cage...she stuffs her's out the cage bars...;)
SH> No, he just drops them to the bottom of the cage. The big
SH> ones he sometimes uses as a backscratcher... holds it in
SH> his beak and uses the pointy end to "itch" himself on the
SH> neck where the beak won't reach!
ST> my area...the owner is very very interested in birds...and
ST> several of the local breeders have been selling to him...I
ST> figure I will contact him when the time is right...;) I sure
ST> can't keep them all...and I wouldn't give a lovebrat to my best
ST> friend...they just aren't good companions...;(
SH> They are so pretty though... I love the pretty pastel colors
SH> they come in. If you got one as a baby and only kept the one,
SH> wouldn't it be a good pet?
They are beautiful...GT is a peach face...and her colors are
brilliant...;) It is a shame that she has an attitude...but from
what I've heard they are all mostly like this...good to look at
but not good pets...males alone seem to be better...from what
I've heard...;) I couldn't give her up...we have an
understanding...I don't push her and she comes to me when she is
in the mood to be petted...;) Once she has a mate...that will
change...very doubtful that I will be able to pet her again but
that is ok...the most important part here is that she is
happy...;) I might try with a baby...but it isn't
important...;)
SH> Yeah, the 'tiel that i had was from a pet store, and she
SH> was ill from the day i got her. (Cold-like symptoms and matted
SH> feathers under her eye.) $50 is still a good price though...
I feel sorry for some of the birds in the pet stores...but I
can't come home with all of them...hehehe I've been tempted...;)
SH> that's about the going rate around here for a bird from a
SH> breeder. Pet stores of course hike the price up to make a
SH> profit. Saw a lovely greenwing macaw baby last month that the
SH> store was asking $3,000 for! (You can get one from a breeder
SH> for less than half that.) Ay caramba!
I would like a Senegal or an African Grey...but of course that is
a dream....maybe some day...;)
... Never deprive someone of hope....it may be all they have...
